OUR PEOPLE

Picture

Tina Tuliau
DEPUTY PRINCIPAL
Y1-2 TEACHER Room Tui

I have had the pleasure of teaching at Woodlands Full Primary School since 2006 and thoroughly enjoy the challenges and rewards of teaching.

I endeavour to build a learning environment that nurtures, supports and challenges students to reach their full potential so that they can become confident, independent and responsible citizens.

My teaching career began over 30 years ago in Invercargill. I have taught a variety of age groups in different schools in Southland, Western Australia and the UK.
I am passionate about building children’s confidence, fostering creativity and providing authentic, engaging learning experiences. I believe that Woodlands offers our children a unique environment where they can extend their learning beyond the classroom.
My husband and I have 3 children and we value the time we have together at our bach at Stewart Island exploring the great outdoors.
I feel extremely privileged to be working at Woodlands Full Primary School and look forward to meeting you all.

I feel very privileged to teach at Woodlands Full Primary School and work with students who are passionate learners both in and out of the classroom. I grew up in Southland and am proud to call it home.
In my youth, I swam competitively for Southland & New Zealand. This experience taught me three things: a drive to succeed, to give 110% with all tasks and to always present a positive and upbeat attitude. I have taken these elements and embedded them into my teaching practice as this chapter in my life is very important to me.
I believe school should be an inspiring & innovative environment where students are free to explore their love of learning. I am passionate about building strong relationships with my students & I encourage them to exceed their expectations and to make the most of their creativity and opportunities that are presented to them in such a unique rural school. I am enthusiastic about physical education, digital learning and providing authentic experiences for students to grow in and out of the classroom.

I feel very privileged to be a part of the Woodlands Full Primary School team. During my career I have taught many levels; however I have enjoyed working with the younger learners the most. I strive to know each student as an individual and work as a team with the parents to provide each student with the best learning opportunities. I have taught previously at schools in Auckland before moving back, but I must say there is nothing quite like home!  I grew up on a farm in Northern Southland and have been heavily involved in sports throughout my life.

Woodlands is my home where I have brought up my four children, all of whom have enjoyed their time at Woodlands Full Primary School. After some time relieving at Woodlands School as well as working on our dairy farm I feel privileged to be teaching full time again at Woodlands. It is a great school and community to be part of.
I am excited to be teaching new entrants and to be able to continue their curiosity and passion for learning as well as help them explore their world.
