THE PRINCIPAL

Picture

Aloma Williams

It is with joy that I undertake the wero of being the principal at Woodlands Full Primary School. I am humbled every day by the work of our teachers and students at a truly great school. Education is currently undergoing a period of change; it is with confidence that I say WFPS is moving in a direction which meets all modern challenges. We work to create an environment for our children, where curiosity is fostered and imaginations are encouraged.
“If we teach today as we taught yesterday, we rob our children of tomorrow”
John Dewey
Prior to arriving at Woodlands, I was a Deputy Principal at James Hargest College in Invercargill. I believe the foundations set at primary school are crucial for students' success in later years. I am excited about how WFPS is preparing students for high school; through growing identity and fostering a sense of self-belief.
When educating the minds of our youth, we must not forget to educate their hearts”
Dalai Lama
We are asking our students to take risks, to be drivers of their own learning. If we ask them to show resilience and tenacity, to grow a social conscience that will continue to benefit humanity then we as educators, as parents and communities must be prepared to do the same.
I look forward to working with you as we take this journey together.
