THE PRINCIPAL
Hayley MitchesonI have been here at Woodlands Primary School since Term 2 2022 and it truly feels like home. I have been teaching prior to coming here for nearly 13 years. In that time, I have worked mainly in the intermediate age groups in Eastern Southland before I moved to a teaching principal role at a small school just north of Gore.
Outside of school, I spend my time in a separate educational role as I am part of the Deep Cove Outdoor Education Trust, a place I am passionate about and believe everyone should experience this at least once in their lifetime. I also have two fur animals, Xander and Skye, who occupy my time.
I believe that every student has the ability to reach their full potential in learning and that we need to support them to do this as learning is not a linear process. I want every child that goes through Woodlands Primary School to be proud of what they have achieved during their time here with us. I am lucky in my position to still have the ability to do some teaching in different classrooms and I am still passionate about what happens in the classroom and seeing our students understanding a concept and being able to make connections. That is what it is all about!
