Stand Tall and Branch Out For Success
About Our School
Welcome to Woodlands Primary School, the best rural school in Southland. Our tamariki are provided so many opportunities in our little place in the world, from our classroom environments to the outdoors! We work hard to consider the needs of our students and to create and teach programmes that are relevant to them and their wider lives.
We are supported by an excellent community of whānau and other community organisations who help us out with our endeavours. We are guided by our school values of whakaute (respect), kaha (courage) and manaakitanga (caring) and show these in all that we do.
Our learning environment includes an Outdoor Learning Area down by the stream (about 500m away from school), a community run school pool and a vegetable garden. We also have great playgrounds, a well used mud kitchen and spacious grounds where our children are often using creative and imaginative play in trees. In 2022, we also introduced loose parts play where, thanks to a grant from Tu Manawa, our children can play with lots of different outdoor games and really bring creativity to life.
